Notes on the settler relation

 The settler relation plays a prominant role in the lives of US citizens. It has expanded well beyond a white supremacist ideology and now includes a multicultural protection for the settler colony against imperial targets around the world and internally. The settler relation manifests most commonly as allegience to US nationalism. US nationalism often overrides all other relations an individual or group can hold and prioritizes the interests of the capitalist class. We can think of how the 9/11 attack on the world trade center in NYC and the pentagon in Washington DC was immediately an attack on the American population instead of an attack on US finance and military institution.

The average american does not have an understanding of class structure or of how class is produced. An attack on the bourgeoisie is an attack on all Americans. This points to a wide class collaborationist ideology that US nationalism envelopes and produces. The american first thinks of themselves as a capitalist citizen before they are even human. Private property is prioritized over all life. The only class relations Americans can talk about are between the rich and the poor. Throw in the middle class and we have the mixture for a deadly mythology where people truly believe the US state works in the interests of the American people. The political superstructure throws concessions to the middle class and has done what it can within capitalist policy to maintain a higher standard of living for middle class settlers. The middle class functions to erase any understanding of the working class and seeks to eliminate solidarity between the working class and the lumpenproletariat (a super exploited class who have come to take on the role of "native" and includes native nations in the currret organization of US imperialist class structure.) It devolves our conception of class to simply mean tax bracket. How much is your net worth and yearly salary. This takes the capitalist economy out of the equation when people think about inequality. The question of inequality becomes about access to private property and ability to capitalize off this property. Labor as commodity becomes a poor person thing and social capital, how the neoliberal sees themselves, is how civilized people produce income. Monetize your hobbies, make your personhood into a brand, cultivate your brand and develop a parasocial relationship with your "fanbase" who will give their money. This is a movement to make working class people into petit bourgeois socialites. It ties a large portion of the working class and lumpenproletariat to the interests of the capitalist class as the entire online infustructure and means of distrubution for online content is owned by corporations. This then produces a capitalist ideology that often veers into fascist propaganda. I'm thinking of the myriad of right-wing streamers who are spreading fascist ideas to the youth of America.

The imperial capitalist economy is actively producing the settler relation (hence settlers) today. The hustle culture that so many young people take up, because they must to materially survive, aligns people's ideology with capitalist ideology. Exploitation is the baseline. The capitalist exploits the worker. The petit bourgeois influencer exploits their viewership while they themselves are being exploited by the corporations providing the infustructure to be an influencer. Under an individualistic ideology, people believe they must exploit others in order to survive their own exploitation. The liberal settler ideology of the US helps all of these exploiters justify their actions. And finally, the entirety of America is united as exploiters under US nationalism.

So how can we begin to break down the settler relation? Seems to me the first step is to refuse to participate in the exploitation of others in so far as you can avoid such an organization. We all must participate as workers within the capitalist economy (to be expolited) but we do not have to participate in the "climb the ladder" mentality of US citizens. Rather, we should work to proletarianize the petit bourgeoisie, especially those that are not small business owners and are trying to cultivate some individualistic brand. We can work toward combating the ideology which justifies Americans benefiting from the imperialist actions of the US govt. We can work to eliminate the racist feelings which are produced from fear and hatred. The settler must reject settler colonialism and all imperialism. The settler position is not a permanant position and we can work toward disrupting this relation whenever possible.

Notes on the first 2 stages of revolution

 How are we to begin a concerted ideological attack against liberalism and capitalism? Without control of any mass media and at the whims of corpos deleting our posts, we have no sure way to reach the masses. We of course always have direct access to the masses through direct conversation and meetings. However, at this time, there are not enough committed communists to influence the masses throughout the country. Could we focus on one area of the country? Have as many communists move to one territory and attempt to wedge our way into local politics? This is an option, but will require sacrifice from comrades right from the start. It will also take comrades away from their communities and families, leaving those areas with no resistance. It seems to me that remaining in our local territories is the better strategy long term. This means we must reproduce communists locally until we have enough of us to establish communes all round the country. The fascist capitalist class is currently developing and building "cop cities" where they will train in urban warfare. This not only reveals what they expect but also how they plan to escalate against the people. The fascists always escalate first. But now we need to be the aggressors. The commune can be a direct response to the police state. An armed collective sprouting up from the latent rebellion always present in our oppression. 

The commune can be a short term goal. The direction our ideological war must work toward. It's an expansion of the student camp. It's an expansion of the anarchist occupy movement. This time however, we will not leave the momentum to naturally grow like weeds through pavement. The communist vanguard will cultivate the seeds of revolution and ensure they receive water and sunlight. The commune is the people and the party is the vanguard. The vanguard will coordinate and direct the communes. This will make the communes the mass base which holds the sword against the bourgeoisie, while the Party as the sharp sword tip holds strong at the neck of the Empire. 

How can we reproduce communists? This must happen ideologically and materially. The first stage is to establish reading groups or intellectual circles. Comrades must study first and foremost. Without the direction of science, we will fall into mythology. We will begin to believe that as communists, all our actions are correct, based on nothing but our identity of communist. But not all praxis is correct praxis. When we fail to reproduce the movement, we fail the future of humanity. All actions we take must be reproducible by the entire movement. This is the essence of science - reproducible results. All comrades must be raised to a certain level of knowledge and must be able to reproduce other comrades. This requires many comrades working together as we will all specialize in different field and we all must train each other in all fields. In the early going of revolution, we do not have the luxury of having high level of division of labor. As there is a small number of us, we all must attempt to be trained to a high level in all praxis and theory that will progress the movement. But we will all show affinity to certain aspects of revolution and we individually should work to be masters of those things. Either way, we all must be prepared to be the "next person up". All of this begins with studying the science written thus far, understanding the historical conditions which led us to our current conditions and in conversation and ideological struggle with comrades. The aim must be to raise all comrades to the highest level of readiness. 

The second stage is the beginning of the revolution. We must begin to escalate a culture war against liberalism. There is a bulwark against socialism built into the ideology of capitalism and we must begin to break down this wall. The first issue to overcome in reproducing more communists is this very ideological bulwark. Deciding on specific aspects of liberalism to attack. A concerted effort against one aspect will be more effective than random ideologically disconnected attacks. 

Both of these stages will be happening simultaneously. To grow the movement, we must begin breaking down liberalism. To break down liberalism, we must grow the movement. The better we do on one stage, the better we could do on the other stage. 

I will write more about communes at another time, but I'll say now that we are dealing with an American population that is backwards and defaults to a settler imperialist ideology. Despite american society being corporately advanced, the people are backwards. We have to begin as if Americans have no political knowledge. This more so means they do not understand the ideology they reproduce as politics, but rather they believe it is human nature which produces capitalism and capitalism meditates human nature to produce civilization. Without mass media, communists do not have a way to educate the people. But the establishment of communes, experiments in different social organizations, can show the people a different way and demonstrate the antagonistic contradiction between the proletariat and bourgeoisie on our terms. 

 

CPUSA and Revisionism

CPUSA has a long but simple history. The principal contradiction within the party has been and continues to be revisionism. For now, let's leave the history behind and look at what is transpiring here today. The national convention was recently held and besides the fact that an Israeli labor zionist spoke to the convention and condemned Hamas and the Palestinian resistance, the main take away was the debate on how the party will move forward in regard to the 2024 election. The question of pursuing reform of the capitalist system is the driving contradiction that must be solved before we can move forward toward revolution. As it stands, CPUSA leadership is a counterrevolutionary force. They are advocating for the communist party to support a genocidal capitalist president. They claim the party has the opportunity to unite a people's front to counter Donald Trump and the GOP.

If you are a dialectical materialist, you must examine the forces at work which move us and change us. How does supporting a genocidal president change the CPUSA? We know the arguments against revisionism, and I do not have the energy to lay it out here. I'm sure at some point in this blog, I will because it is extremely important that communists understand the dangers of collaboration with our enemy (Bourgeoisie). For now, this is what I am thinking about. Joe Simms and Rossana Cabron are pushing an agenda that leads to a massive waste of time and energy, deceives the membership of the party and amounts to traitorism to the working class and the masses. 

Let's take these one at a time. Why is a waste of time? Time is not infinite. In fact, we live in perhaps the most urgent time in human history because we are dealing with global crises which will affect every human, animal and plant on Earth. Capitalism and its ruling class are pursuing a zero-sum game. We either acquiesce to their demands that we dedicate our lives to enriching them or we organize against and overthrow them. To continue to participate in the grand delusion of Bourgeois democracy not only steals away our chance to organize revolutionary action and theory, it also actively harms our relationship with the people. Our relationship with the people is not something we will have time to correct. The longer we waste time lying to the people about our influence on the capitalist dictatorship, the longer it will take to convince them otherwise.

Secondly, CPUSA leadership is deceiving the membership of the party, hence the masses, by claiming electoralism will help build a base we can organize from. This is ridiculous. Once you fail and fail to achieve a damn thing from electoralism and believe me you cannot achieve one thing from this pursuit except the leaderships safety as they direct our energy back into the capitalist system rather than against it, the membership and the people will feel cheated and lied to. This is because they have been. You cannot build a foundation on the lies of revisionism. It is quite the opposite reaction you are accomplishing. You will push the people away. Millions of people in the country already are disillusioned from presidential elections and they already know there is no democracy found there. Democracy is found in organizing ourselves and beginning the long and arduous task of self-governance. 

Finally, for today, as I'm not feeling all that well today and I want to relax, how does this all amount to traitorism? Who does electoralism benefit? Who controls the economy and its political superstructure? If you are reading this, I suspect you already know. What is the main argument for voting for one candidate over another? Lesser evilism. The argument relies on the claim that the people of the US are better off under one individual or Bourgeois party than the other. The key for the argument to make any sense is how our international comrades must be ignored. There is not a single ounce of internationalism in the argument for US lesser evilism. So, the argument is not simply that US citizens are better off under democrats. The hidden premise is US citizens are better off under capitalism/liberalism. This not only forsakes the world's people but reinforces the lies of our political system. 

To be clear, I am a member of CPUSA. However, my main pursuit is not party careerism. It is liberation from capitalist dictatorship. We must sweep away the forces working against us.

To the Students

Like waves lapping on the fortified shores of America, every generation of students finds themselves lined up, locked arm in arm, against the violence inherent within the core of the globe-spanning capitalist dictatorship. Generation after generation find themselves in the same economic position and conditions. Students are uniquely situated in society. Those students with time to think and see the obvious and worsening contradictions produced by capitalism often still retain some human empathy and understanding. From this position, students come to question why we are continuing to reproduce some of the worst conditions we have seen on Earth in human history?

Workers’ wages are taxed, even more than capitalist gains, to fund a murderous ecocidal empire organized to control populations (CIA) and to exploit and extract value, wealth, resources, and life from anywhere on Earth. This is a necessarily ecocidal Empire as it organizes the people and infrastructure of the world to benefit the Bourgeoisie without regard to natural systems or people. The capitalist class (Bourgeoisie) is a small minority seeking to and succeeding in oppressing the masses. They fund their military and economic empire with the riches they are stealing from the people. The more and more they steal, the more they need to control us and repress our self-determination. To get the last drop from the fruit, you must squeeze even harder.

Another aspect of their Empire is the classical liberal ideology which at once seeks to justify capitalist minority rule and to reproduce their rule both on the field of struggle and through our own bodies and relations. As the capitalist minority continues to further monopolize their capital position, they must further monopolize our relations with the world, especially our relations with each other. They seek to mediate our understanding of and interactions with the world. When we talk about capitalist monopoly, we must remember whom they are monopolizing. Capitalists capture our productive capacities and, rather than us developing our own communities and power, our labor is alienated and stolen for their benefit. This leaves us with so little, not only materially, but spiritually.

Yet as students, life is still new and blossoming before you and you want to protect life from the Bourgeoisie. You take up what weapons you can — the book, the encampment, the shield, the human heart — and unite against your most immediate enemy, The University. What is The University? A place of learning, a place of indoctrination, a library, a corporation? Capital flows through the university like rivers originating from the mountains of the ruling class. Directed by the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor/President, capital is laundered through a system of research and grants to corporations, as well as direct investment in weapons and the Empire's war machine, including one of the Empire’s most important strategic holdings, the Zionist entity itself, Israel. Both American students and workers find themselves materially supporting a 75-year occupation and genocide. We now understand how ecocide is a necessity for capitalist control of people and natural resources. The capitalist class has no interest or ability to develop the people materially or ideologically. They must not be allowed to rule over us any longer as the pressures put on Earth and its people are no longer tolerable or sustainable. We the people that produce and reproduce our society, find ourselves with perhaps the greatest responsibility placed on humans in our eventful history. We see here how the University participates in how capital is directed toward our own destruction, all the while producing the ideological mystification and justification for Bourgeois rule. Liberalism (capitalist ideology) must be attacked, deconstructed, and destroyed part by part. Students are in the perfect position to begin theorizing and practicing a new socialist ideology. What works will spread.

When we speak of liberalism, we refer to the enlightenment produced classical liberalism. It is a system of thought meant to justify private property and unequal economic development. It uses concepts/tools such as human rights, individualism, and racism. It is founded on the logic of idealism. Idealism enforces a naturalized politics (instead of scientific theory/practice), ignores and covers material reality (hence real people), and justifies all action that continues to protect and enrich the Bourgeoisie. The ”ideal” (capital/capitalist) is of higher priority over real people and ecosystems. According to liberalism, history is complete. We've achieved the highest form of society available to humanity. We are meant to act as atomistic individuals, separate and above the natural world and the people. An extremist individualism is produced in the people and reinforced everyday through our workplaces, schools and in our relationship to governance. The University is a crucial site of production of liberal ideology while also training the next generation to reproduce our economic condition. Liberals are churned out, all loyal to capitalism and the US State. Crucial to this indoctrination process are the ways in which people are convinced they are better off under capitalism and liberal democracy than any other system of society ever produced. Extremist individualism keeps people’s worldview to the limits of their skin.

The capitalist state, of which the University is an extension, offers us concessions such as 1st amendment rights and the vote. Do not mistake their constitutional claims as a reality. Concessions are just that. Gifts given by the ruling class to placate the masses while benefiting themselves. The US Empire derives its material and ideological power from its ownership of capital and the productive forces (our labor). The people of the imperial core benefit from the stolen riches of Empire to varying degrees depending on class position, race, sexuality, gender, etc. Average white workers benefit from the global system of white supremacy. Many individuals are positioned in economically beneficial ways, but these short-term material benefits are only desired and tolerable due to capitalist ideology. They own us and we reproduce these conditions day in and day out, all justified in our minds by liberal ideology and fear. They own us and they know it.

We have other ideas, however. While our Palestinian neighbors are at once being slaughtered at the highest speed ever seen in human history and operating one of the most successful and courageous armed resistance movements, allied with anti-imperialist groups/states like Iran, AnsarAllah in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Islamic resistance in Iraq, the world's people are becoming conscious to our collective condition. Many students took up this new call for liberation and came together to demand material concessions from the Bourgeoisie in the form of divestment from the war machine and the Zionist entity. This ongoing demand is simple and logical. To the Bourgeoisie, this is an attack on their power. But why? Couldn't the capitalists simply move their capital from the university and find a different flow? Surely, they could, but this would bankrupt the university system. The university not only operates to direct flows of capital and to add an air of academic credence to their actions, through think tanks and research. It is a site of ideological production, dissemination, enforcement and reproduction in the bodies of the rank-and-file students and the general population. Students who are conscious of how the university functions within our bourgeois dominated society are a threat to that functionality. The capitalists cannot afford to lose the university to the people.

This is at once, as always, an ideological and material struggle. We, both students and the working class, must place our ideological stake in the ground. We must represent a break from Liberalism. This is both a social struggle, through education, and an individual struggle, through discipline. Our bodies are marked by the oppression of capital, and liberalism insidiously lives in and through our bodies. Each of us is a site for revolution as we eliminate individualism from our relations with the world. Develop your love for the people. Create new non-oppressive relationships with your friends and families.

Students are positioned to wage an ideological battle against the Bourgeoisie. While we strive to abolish private property and the power the Bourgeoisie derives from their ownership over capital and labor, we must begin to take ownership because we produce society, both materially and ideologically. The time has come in America to take sides, to raise the banners, to produce and care for the world deliberately in our name. We must place all aspects of human society on the field of struggle. Everything must be evaluated and reevaluated. While student encampments will advance and retreat, the struggle against liberalism is constant. You must hold the line. The struggle is not only student vs. university. It is student vs. student. The internal struggle amongst students is the struggle against capitalism. Develop the student front. Unite the banners. Unite the students against Earth's enemy. We must help each other develop as far as we can under our condition. Prepare for war. Historically we know we are on the edge of an apocalyptic cliff. The Bourgeoisie pushes us over one by one. As long as liberalism infects our bodies, we will be more concerned about our individual selves rather than seeing how we are weakened when any of us are attacked. We all cannot hope to be the last person standing. Our only choice is to embrace and practice a socialist ideology, based on science and the logic of dialectical materialism. We see that contradiction is the motor of history. Competing material/ideological forces struggle against one another until defeat of one side, or more likely, some synthesis of oppositions — unity. Through our struggle against the bourgeoisie and all the systems of oppression they wield against us, we will unite the fronts. We join the people of Earth in its existential struggle against the American Empire. The future of all life on Earth will have a reaction to our actions today. We must produce liberation of life and destroy the capitalist dictatorship!
